Local foster carer spreads Christmas magic across Rotherham

Fostering Rotherham is celebrating the extraordinary kindness of Steve, one of our dedicated foster carers, who is once again stepping into the role of Father Christmas to bring festive joy to children across the borough.

Each year, Steve volunteers as Father Christmas for local schools and for children in care. This Christmas, he is giving even more of his time to support Fostering Rotherham families.

Steve will be making special appearances at the Fostering Rotherham Children’s Christmas Party and the 0-4 Support Group Christmas Party, delighting children and helping create magical memories for families within the fostering community.

But his impact goes far beyond festive events. For children who have recently come into care or who have moved homes, Christmas can be a time of uncertainty and worry, particularly concerns about whether Father Christmas will know where they now live.

To offer comfort, reassurance and continuity, Steve is also volunteering to visit these children at home, reminding them that Father Christmas always knows how to find them. These thoughtful doorstep visits help children feel seen, valued and secure at a moment when they may need it most.
