In August 2025, we held our first Foster Carer Olympics. It brought Rotherham’s fostering families together for a full day of activities and fun for everyone.
The activities we enjoyed as a fostering community
Held at Thrybergh Country Park, the event was full of fun and packed with activities for all ages. Our children, young people and foster carers all had fun in the obstacle races, football matches and archery.

The colour run!
One of the event highlights had to be our colour run, where everyone was able to give powdered paint throwing a go. All the fostering families and our team were covered from head to toe in every colour imaginable!

Special guest appearance: Sully the tortoise
One unexpected star of the show was
Sully, the pet tortoise of one of our foster carers. He was a true crowd favourite! He joined the event for the day, delighting children and adults alike as he made his rounds (at his own pace, of course).
Stories with the Library
It wasn’t all running and racing - the team from the mobile library also came along to share books, stories and a calm space for those who needed a quieter moment. The library is part of the community services that support our fostering families in all kinds of ways.
A huge thank you to our families and our supporters
We want to say a special thank you to every foster carer and child who joined us and brought the energy, laughter and community spirit.
And to Thrybergh Country Park staff, for supporting our fostering families and for providing the space for the event.
