Rotherham foster carer Eve recently transferred to Fostering Rotherham from an IFA
(independent Fostering Agency). We caught up with Eve to find out about her experience of the transfer process.
What motivated your transfer to Rotherham?
Eve had previously been a Fostering Rotherham foster carer but decided to try fostering with an IFA. Unfortunately Eve didn't have a very good experience with the IFA and
“didn’t feel supported by them.” Eve told us: “I knew that the support would be there with Fostering Rotherham, which is why I transferred back”.
“I knew how Fostering Rotherham worked and I really liked the new things they were
doing like the mentoring scheme, more training opportunities, recommending a friend,
and just the feeling of being part of the Rotherham fostering community again.”
Did you find the team easy to work with?
Eve said she found it “very easy” to speak to the Rotherham recruitment team: “I rang my previous manager and spoke to her about wanting to transfer. The recruitment team
were fantastic in communicating and explaining the process at every step of the way.”
All existing carers who transfer to Rotherham will receive a personalised journey to
fostering. We aim to make the process as streamlined and hassle free as possible. Most
of the transfer paperwork will be done by the Fostering Rotherham team who will guide
you every step during the process. Eve told us that her transfer to Fostering Rotherham was “very smooth” and that “the communication was very efficient. I knew I could rely onthe whole team at Fostering Rotherham.”
Eve loves being a part of the Fostering Rotherham community and appreciates “having
more carers available to give each other support and advice. There is a great sense of
community and the training and support groups are fantastic. I really enjoy the events
where all the carers get together.”
Would you encourage others to transfer?
When we asked Eve what she would say to other foster carers thinking about
transferring to Rotherham, she said: “Go for it! I get more support from my supervising social worker [at Fostering Rotherham] and they really advocate for my needs. The training
is excellent and my pay has been matched by Rotherham. I get more support now, and
more consideration around careful [home] matching.”
