At Fostering Rotherham, we know that fostering is about more than providing a place for a child to live. It’s about building strong, supportive relationships, looking after everyone in the household, and being part of a community that understands the realities of caring for children and young people.
That’s why we’re always looking at how we can better support our foster carers and their families - not just in their role as carers, but in their day-to-day lives too.
As part of this commitment, we’re pleased to share a new addition to the support available to our fostering households in Rotherham.
From this month, every fostering household with Fostering Rotherham is eligible to receive free gym memberships and discounted swimming lessons at four local leisure centres. Importantly, this offer covers the whole household - including foster carers, children and young people in care, and children of foster carers.
The participating leisure centres are:
Aston-cum-Aughton Leisure Centre
Rotherham Leisure Centre
Maltby Leisure Centre
Wath-upon-Dearne Leisure Centre
This offer is about supporting physical wellbeing, mental health and family time. Whether it’s a chance to unwind, build routines, spend time together or simply have some space for yourself, we want fostering households to feel supported in practical, meaningful ways.
For more information about this offer, carers can speak directly with their supervising social worker.
This latest addition sits alongside the wider support available to foster carers with Fostering Rotherham.
When you foster with us, you are supported by a dedicated supervising social worker, access to dependable out-of-hours support, and a local team who know you and the children you care for. You’ll be part of a strong fostering community, with opportunities to connect with other carers and share experiences.
We also offer:
Competitive weekly fostering payments and allowances
Financial support for clothing, equipment, birthdays, cultural celebrations and family breaks
Paid annual leave with planned Home-from-Home care arrangements
Access to training and development, including Preparation Training and ongoing learning opportunities
Everything we offer is designed to help carers feel confident, supported and valued – because when carers are supported, children and young people are better supported too.
If you’re considering fostering, or simply want to find out more, we’d love to have a conversation with you. There’s no pressure and no obligation - just an opportunity to talk through what fostering could look like for you, your family and your circumstances.
