Thank You For Downloading A Post Career Financial Support Guide
Fostering happens when children are unable to live with their birth parents or family.
This can be for a whole variety of reasons. Sometimes they may have experienced abuse, neglect or a parent may become ill and unable to care for their child.
Fostering provides a home and more stable family life for children and young people who can no longer be cared for by their parents. There are many different types of fostering depending on the needs of the child or young person. There are many reasons why children are placed into care and it is our job to find them safe, supportive and caring homes with foster carers.

What Do Foster Carers Do?
Foster carers come from all walks of life and not all fostering journeys are the same. As a foster carer, you’ll give vulnerable children from Rotherham a safe environment to grow and learn, helping to improve their confidence and happiness one day at a time.
Depending on the child’s individual circumstances, you may provide care for a couple of days, a few years or until adulthood. There are many types of fostering, including full-time, part-time and specialist care.
To carry out the role of a foster carer, you’ll be supported by a highly professional team of social workers and offered on-going training.
You will work as part of a team of professionals to help create a better future for Rotherham's children and young people.
“The biggest thing you can do for these kids is just be there for them.”
-Martin, Foster Carer
