Denise and John's Story

Denise and John have fostered for over 37 years

Denise and her husband John have been foster carers in Rotherham for over 37 years and although they have gone on to adopt six of their previous looked after children, they are still actively fostering children in Rotherham today.

“We are helping the community of Rotherham, our own town, to care for the children of Rotherham.”

They have fostered a range of ages from as young as six days old and although they know it can be hard parting ways from their looked after children, they feel pride in knowing they have supported their looked after children before going to wonderful homes.

Even though times have changed in the almost four decades they have been foster carers, Denise and John feel that the best thing about Fostering in Rotherham has stayed the same.

"We are helping the community of Rotherham, our own town, to care for the children of Rotherham,’ and feel immensely proud of the difference they know they can make to the lives of these children.

After all this time, Denise and John say they ‘would not have changed anything for the world. We still foster and try to give the children in our care all the love, care and stability in a secure home that we can. We feel very proud of all our children and foster children.’
