Watch our new film, "The Run"
Following last years ‘Everything’ film, we're thrilled to have taken part in another national film project to promote fostering. This year, the story follows 11-year-old Tom, who is fostered by Daniel and Melissa alongside his foster family. We see Tom running for many reasons - sometimes away from difficult situations, but also towards something positive, as his foster family supports him to take part in a cross-country race.
Reflecting on the film, Cllr Victoria Cusworth, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Rotherham Council, said: “The Run is a really inspiring story which shows the huge impact having the right foster family at the right time can have. I really loved Tom’s story, how having that simple connection as well as love and support can have a real impact on his life.
“We have an amazing fostering community in Rotherham who tell us fostering is one of the
most rewarding things you can do. This film will help us reach more people in the borough and the surrounding area and encourage them to take that step to become part of this
incredibly important community.”

This new film helps to show the different realities of fostering - the challenges, the small everyday moments, and the life-changing impact it brings for children and the families who care for them. At Fostering Rotherham, children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. But we can’t do it without more local foster carers. By fostering with Rotherham Council, you’re helping children grow up here in Rotherham - surrounded by the people, schools, and communities that matter to them.
